Unique Minds Changing Lives Inc. is seeking funding to expand our current facility in Sussex County, Delaware, in response to growing community needs and increased demand for emergency housing and food assistance. This proposed expansion project will enhance our ability to serve the most vulnerable populations—particularly disabled individuals experiencing homelessness or food insecurity—by adding space, capacity, and privacy to our services.

The expansion will include:

Four transitional housing rooms equipped with a total of eight beds, designated for disabled individuals in need of immediate shelter and stabilization support.

A larger, accessible kitchen to support meal preparation for housed residents and improve efficiency in our food assistance operations.

An expanded food storage area, enabling us to receive and store greater quantities of donations and bulk food for our emergency pantry and monthly food distribution program—ultimately helping us fight hunger more effectively.

Private office spaces to allow our case managers and staff to meet with clients in a confidential, one-on-one setting, increasing client dignity, comfort, and the effectiveness of service delivery.

This project builds upon our strong foundation of wraparound services—housing assistance, food security, case management, financial literacy, and personal development—and will significantly strengthen our mission to restore, educate, and stabilize low-income individuals and families in crisis.

By expanding our infrastructure, we will increase our impact, improve service quality, and ensure that more community members receive the support they need to achieve long-term stability.

Christmas Wrapping Party

Each year we come together with our funders and doners to wrap gifts for the less fortunate during Christmas time. Proud fully we served a total of 324 children in 2024. Graciously we received funding from Discover Bank, Westminister Presbyterian Church, Sussex County Council, Toys for Tots, Bless Our Children and several individuals left monetary donations and/or dropped off toys.

Unique Minds Changing Lives Inc., Board of Director’s meeting is held the 1st Saturday of every month at 10:00am. The Board comes together as a team to address the needs of the community. Also during this time, progress updates are given from each program within the organization. The board makes sure that all members are aware of any upcoming events, to assure that everyone takes part in what we are doing for the community. Our Board Meetings are open to the public, please contact our Board President, if you are interested in sitting in on one our Board Meetings.

Before any renovations or paint, this space stood as a reminder of hope and faith. Today, we honor its legacy by transforming it into our Community Support Center—continuing the spirit of service by supporting families and individuals in need.
